Telepathy/mind reading/empathy bond: I don't mind, but he dislikes when people aren't honest about mind-reading/telepathy abilities and will react accordingly. If they are up front about it, he'll usually be fine. That said, he has some experience with controlling his mind and will do his best to put that into affect around mind readers/telepaths. The same attempt at control applies for the empathy bond-- He will do his best to keep his in check, but he's not an expert at it, and while he'll probably keep some low-level stuff from bleeding through, in times of high emotion it will absolutely bleed over.

Warnings: Giddon's canon history contains tyrants, both of the regular variety and one who could control minds. He's not as impacted as others were by this, so it won't be as constantly on the mind, but when he encounters situations of mind control, it will likely come to mind. The tyrant in question engaged in a lot of really terrible behavior-- physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, gaslighting, rape and coercion, and pretty much every other ill you can anticipate when a man with power over minds controls a kingdom. Unless the thread in question brings up the more detailed aggressions, I will likely not explore these in any depth, but feel free to let me know if you have concerns. Comments are screened on this post.

About

A former nobleman turned revolutionary, Giddon currently works for a covert group called "the Council," a collection of lawbreakers who work to overthrow corrupt leaders and aid those impacted by their misrule. He is most often brought along as muscle, but possesses some skill for the more subtle aspects of spywork. He currently spends most of his time helping people escape the government situation in Estill, one of six other kingdoms in his world, and Monsea, where he resides.

DETAILED HISTORY WIP
-Born into a noble house of the Middluns, had a twin brother.
-Twin brother, Arlend, died in a horse riding accident when they were 15. Giddon blames himself. Their mother died shortly after of grief.
-Giddon's father died somewhere between when he was 16-18, leaving him the inheritor of a great estate. He was very proud of and love his lands and his people.
-Worked as an enforcer for corrupt King Randa for a time.
-Became involved in The Council because of falling in love with its founder, Katsa. She very quickly disabused him of the notion of him getting to marry her. He eventually accepted it with grace.
-Through work w/ The Council, unlearned his privilege and became a better, gentler man. Helped overthrow two monarchies. Also angered Randa to the point where the king stripped him of his titles and estate and banished him on pain of execution.
-Since then, he has lived in Monsea, doing work for the Council, mostly with helping people escape Estill. He also works as an unofficial advisor for Monsea's queen, Bitterblue.

Personality

Giddon was born into privilege and, before his involvement in the Council, was by his own admission a "small-minded man who did small things." He has spent the past fifteen years of his life trying to make up for being that man. Nowadays, he has shown himself to be a compassionate and empathetic person, caring deeply for those he aids and even more so for those he considers in his circle of loved ones. He can still be an incredibly jealous person, but does his best to never express that jealousy. He similarly has to keep in check an impulse towards violence, which is certainly deep-rooted but not something he relishes in. That violence usually shows itself when he is working in the Council or in defense of someone he wants to protect-- And he is of the sort to constantly want to protect, yet very rarely letting others in to protect him. He is constantly working towards being his better self, and constantly doubting whether or not he's actually made it there.

Appearance

Giddon is a "big and tall" man, with brown hair and brown eyes. He is left-handed but can also work with his right. He has pale white skin.

Additional info not on the Wiki: In Winterkeep, Giddon was shown to have spent much of the past five years helping Gracelings escape to Monsea & other Council work, as well as residing at the castle in Bitterblue City. He was asked to accompany Queen Bitterblue on her journey to the recently discovered Torla. He has also fallen hopelessly in love with the Queen, though he hasn't realized that quite yet.

Canon point: Towards the beginning of Winterkeep, just after the Monsean delegation arrives in Winterkeep.

Plans: Kisses?? Also learning how to control the empathy bond really well, tbh. I'm also mean and want him to have to fight things/get hurt (and then also get taken care of.) Generally learning how to be a person that can let himself lean on other people.
